ACREAGE

With nearly 490 total acres, Blue Rose Ranch consists of two non-contiguous ranch units (Headquarters Unit and Canyon Ranch Unit). The Canyon Ranch Unit is located a short distance east of the Headquarters Unit with access off County Road HH and County Road 29. The separate ranch units are perimeter fenced native short-grass pasture. Current ranch business operations utilize limited cross-fencing except for corrals on both ranch units. RECREATION AND WILDLIFE

The ranch acreage along Bear Creek provides ample room for play and recreation. Wildlife on the ranch and in the surrounding area mostly includes deer, antelope, turkey, pheasant, dove, and migratory waterfowl. Two Buttes Reservoir and State Wildlife Area is a short distance to the northeast which provides some boating and fishing opportunities. John Martin Reservoir and the Arkansas River are around one hour north.

Baca County is home to Comanche National Grasslands where Picture Canyon is located. Native Americans left their mark on the canyon walls nearly twenty miles south/southwest of Springfield. History on the Rocks is a documentary that was filmed on the Native American writings and Spring and Fall Equinox in Crack Cave. Additional petroglyphs on the canyon walls in Picture Canyon and in neighboring Carrizo Canyon give testament to the tremendous history in the area.

This southeast Colorado location is along the Colorado Birding Trail with several birding opportunities including Two Buttes State Wildlife Area, Picture Canyon, Sikes Ranch State Wildlife Area, Turks Pond, and Cottonwood Canyon.
