We are proud to have obtained an exclusive listing on the historic Saul Ranch in Briscoe County, Texas. The ranch is located approximately 8 miles west of Quitaque, Texas at the end of CR 21 and consists of 4,616 acres. The ranch has been in the Saul family since 1948 and operated as a cattle and hunting property by the family. It has approximately 1,600 acres on top of the Caprock that is mostly flat terrain with some mesquite tree cover and excellent buffalo grass and other native grasses. The remainder of the ranch consists of rugged canyons with 500 foot elevation changes, deep draws, Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood Creeks and amazing views. HISTORY OF THE RANCH FROM THE OWNER'S PERSPECTIVE

This land has been in our family for 72 years.

The road on the north side of our land that connects the canyons to the plains seems to be very old.

In 1841, the Sante Fe Expedition was led up the road by Comancheros. The Expedition was lost and could not find their way to Santa Fe. Evidently, the Comancheros used this road for their two-wheeled carts filled with trade goods for the Comanche and Kiowa Indians for years and years.

When Colonel Mackenzie was chasing the Indians in the 1870s, he is reported to have used this road for his supply wagons.

It has been called the Santa Fe Trail, Mackenzie Trail, but the early settlers of this region called it the Old Wagon Trail. Charlies Goodnight referred to it as the Old Indian Trail Road.

We have found a few artifacts that seem to verify the assumption of its long history.

We also have found what we believe are the remains of a dugout belonging to the man who homesteaded two sections of our land around 1900. The skillet and dutch oven we recovered have been dated before 1865. Some of the shell casings were dated in the 1890s.

We have found numerous flint arrowheads and a few metal arrowheads.
