As I drove up the pine-lined paved drive leading to the private gate entrance, I knew this was going to be a special property and I was not disappointed! Beyond the gate, a dirt road sloped gently up the hill bordered on the right by a large field and on the left by a little valley stream leading to a small pond. The owner later told me he had wanted to build a larger stocked pond there some day but I soon learned there were not enough hours in the day or days in the year to fulfill the many dreams this wonderful piece of land inspired especially to a man like himself.

The owner has many talents and he used this land to express his love of nature. He raised and trained bird dogs. He raised thousands of pheasants and once used this land as a hunting preserve. He is one of the finest taxidermist I ever met and he has many mounts of wildlife from this land; fox and coyotes, pheasant ruffed grouse and quail, and of course turkey and deer. Yet his true expertise is woodworking. He loves to make free-form stands and shelves and benches from natural stumps and burls he has collected over the years. Somehow he finds the time to hunt which is his true passion. He has taken many trophies (most with a bow) from this property as have many of his friends and family.
But health issues prevail and he can no longer maintain the miles of trails and grow the crops and food plots he once did. This land would be perfect for a group or for a large family. It once was a large farm and the land still has apple and pear trees on it that were once planted by homesteaders. The owner says the deer love the pears even more that the apples. Once large south facing crop fields (40 to 50 acres now hay) drew in even more deer and turkey. The woods and a wetlands area provide plenty of natural cover and the game stays here all year.
