RANCH SIZE:
This ranch contains 880 + deeded acres. The Fergus County Farm Service Agency indicates there are about 303 acres of tillable lands on the property. The current use of these lands are hay production and tame pasture. The land is leased for the 2010 year. There are about 200 sprinkler irrigated acres along the Judith River bottoms.
WATER:
The Judith River meandering through this property for about a mile and a half. Besides the river there are 3 or 4 coulees and draws that have seasonal water and there is a developed spring with a water tank on the northeastern corner.
WILDLIFE & HABITAT:
This property would make an excellent Deer and Bird habitat project. There are Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pheasants, and Upland Game Birds with occasional turkey and elk on the north end. The number and varieties of wildlife would increase with some wildlife management practices such as introducing small grains (wheat, barley, oats, safflower, corn, millet, new alfalfa) and rows of shelterbelts. The natural habitat especially with all the riverfront is ideal for Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pheasants, Geese and various other waterfowl.
CONSERVATION EASEMENTS:
There are no conservation easements in place on this property.
COMMENTS:
This is a very private property with about 1.50 miles of Judith River. It is secluded with good natural habitat. There are no buildings that you have to pay for. It is very aesthetic and yet productive with an abundance of water. With all this water food plots and shelterbelts would thrive. All the natural ingredients are there plus a little work this could be a wildlife masterpiece. What a fun project this would be.
