The property has qualified for landowner elk tags. In order to qualify for landowner elk tags, the property must have at least 2,000 elk days throughout the year. The game and fish conducts a study to determine how many elk have been on the land. This year this property qualified for 2 landowner elk tags. This property has the best cover and one of the only sources of water in the area, thus making for a great place for the elk to stay around.
The area has a 3% chance for a non-resident to receive an elk license. Crooks Mountain and Green Mountain are well known for their elk hunting with several elk currently in the Boone and Crockett books coming from this area. The resident elk population includes some real trophies! There are a number of areas that could be used for secluded cabin site(s).
