Summit Lake Ranch is hidden away at about 9000 feet only 7 air-miles northwest of Hot Sulphur Springs, and 6 miles north of U. S. Highway 40. Attracted to its mix of aspens, evergreens, meadows, and water, mule deer and elk frequent the property, some of which reach trophy size. Tags are available for elk over the counter, and the property qualifies for landowner mule deer tags through the Landowner Preference Program. Since it is 100% surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest, Summit Lake Ranch is the very definition of a private retreat, where your nearest neighbors will be black bears and bugling elk. Lovely mountain views present themselves in every direction, particularly in the fall when the aspen turn to gold.

A small permanent stream, Corral Creek, flows through the eastern portion of the ranch, and its beaver ponds host wild populations of brown trout and brook trout. Summit Lake Ranch is an off grid property, with one 1100-square foot, hand built, tongue and groove cabin able to sleep up to 10 persons. Including a wood stove, propane lighting, and a natural spring well, this recently renovated cabin is nicely equipped to serve as a hunting, fishing, or backcountry headquarters for moderately large groups. An outhouse and outdoor shower complete the necessary improvements to this mountain retreat.

Hot Sulphur Springs is the county seat of Grand County, has a population of about 700 persons, and offers its famous hot springs to the public. Kremmling is only slightly farther away and is about twice the size with more services. Both towns are accessible by the Black Mountain Forest Service Road and Highway 40 in the summer, and via snowmobile and Highway 40 in the winter. Denver is only about 2.5 hours distant by way of Berthoud Pass but is world away in terms of noise and crowds!

Middle Park is a less crowded recreational mecca than other areas in the Front Range. The west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park at Grand Lake is only about 50 miles away, itself inviting a lifetime of exploration. Gold medal fly fishing is available on public leases of the Colorado River only minutes away, and stillwater anglers find excellent fishing at Lake Granby and Williams Fork Reservoir. Summer hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding can be enjoyed directly from the ranch in every direction, and in the winter, ski touring, snow shoeing, and snowmobiling opportunities are plentiful. For downhill skiing enthusiasts, Winter Park is only about an hour away and Steamboat Springs just slightly further.
