On behalf of the Seller, Compass South recently offered the 2013 Southeastern Bid Package comprising approximately 33,645 acres of well-diversified southern timberland. The Package contained 48 tracts located in Baldwin, Emanuel, Stewart, Twiggs and Wilkinson Counties, Georgia and Jackson County, Mississippi. The owner was only seeking bids for the package in its entirety.
The initial bid on the 33,645 acre package closed on May 16, 2013 and, after reviewing the bids, the Seller decided that none were acceptable. Accordingly, Compass South has now been instructed to modify the offering to accept bids on a tract by tract level. The Jackson County, Mississippi property contains twenty-one tracts totaling approximately 9,973 acres, while Stewart County, Georgia has fourteen tracts totaling approximately 18,512 acres. The remaining Georgia counties have two tracts in Baldwin and 718 acres; Emanuel, three tracts and 1,964 acres; Screven, 4 tracts and 848 acres; Twiggs, three tracts and 1,288 acres; and, Wilkinson County just one tract for 342 acres.
