Use OnX Hunt or other mapping software to know when you're on the actual property. From the intersection of US Highway 24 and Colorado Highway 82 turn west towards the town of Twin Lakes. Continue 4 miles on Hwy 82 to Lake County Road 24 (paved turnoff to Lakeview Campground) and turn north/right onto LCR24. Stop and set your trip mileage counter. Pass the Lakeview Campground (1 mile in) and continue to the lower South Elbert Trailhead (1.3 miles in). Immediately after that is Forest Road 125B on your left. Take that 4x4 road, cross a creek (2.7 miles in), drive past the South Elbert upper Trailhead parking lot (3.1 miles in) where you'll see a CO Trail sign on your left. Stay left onto road 125C which will narrow and head uphill. Cross through a gate (3.7 miles in). Recommend parking along switchback (4.4 miles in) and hiking up the road to the lower mine site the first time you go up there.
