This is the best 244 acre deer hunting farm I have ever stepped my feet on in the state of Missouri, PERIOD!!
I have been fortunate enough to have hunted whitetail deer all over this great country, and I feel that when it comes to whitetail hunting locales, I have a good barometer on what is good and what is not so good. I promise you that the above statement is factual, with not even the slightest stretch of the truth!
I have hunted Lincoln County Missouri my entire life, and for the most part, it is a good county to hunt deer and turkey. But what makes this 244 GREAT, are a few features that are pretty rare to Missouri. Firstly, it is whitetail habitat at its best! I have hunted Lincoln County Missouri my entire life, and for the most part, it is a good county to hunt deer and turkey. But what makes this 244 GREAT, are a few features that are pretty rare to Missouri. Firstly, it is whitetail habitat at its best! Timber dominated landscapes mixed with agriculture fields and multiple CRP type areas provide the deer and turkeys here with everything they need to thrive and grow old. But more importantly than that are the very large landowners in this immediate area, and the limited hunting access to these areas. For example, there are 5 farms that all touch one another, including this 244, that make up over 4000 acres of prime whitetail habitat, and 1500 of that acreage there is no hunting allowed at all! And can you imagine that on all this ground, there are less than six people that are lucky enough to hunt here! I would bet that there are not too many areas like this in the state of Missouri, especially within 90 minutes of downtown St. Louis!
Of the 244 acres that make up this property, 90 acres are currently in production, with another 15 or so that could easily be converted to tillable. The remaining acreage is predominantly hardwood timber, with oaks, walnut and hickory being the dominate species. The farm is bordered on three sides by the Quivre River, providing fishing and boating opportunities. There are several areas that would be ideal building spots for a weekend cabin or a permanent residence, and several of these areas overlook the river. There are two ponds on the farm, that along with the Cuivre, provide a year round water source to the wildlife that call this property home. There is an open area that would be ideal for horses and horseback riding. For you ever growing number of varmint hunters, bobcat, coyote and foxes take advantage of this habitat too. I also toured this property this winter, and bald eagles were everywhere! There is also an eagle that annually raises a family atop a sycamore overlooking the Cuivre River!
