LAND AUCTION
4,665 Acres – McKenzie & Golden Valley Counties, ND
Monday, October 19, 2009 – 1:00 p.m. (MT)
Auction Location: Medora Community Center - Medora, ND
Auction Note: The beauty and mystique of the Dakota Badlands makes it one of the most stunningly beautiful and appealing places in America. Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt built two ranches in the Badlands. His beloved Elkhorn Ranch is nestled among the buttes only five miles southeast of the Myers Southern Cross Ranch.
The savagely beautiful and rugged buttes and tree lined ravines, native grasses and flowers, expansive meadows and valleys, and The Little Missouri River dominate the landscape of both ranches. The savagely beautiful and rugged buttes and tree lined ravines, native grasses and flowers, expansive meadows and valleys, and The Little Missouri River dominate the landscape of both ranches. Both ranches have breathtaking scenery but the Myers Southern Cross Ranch is more productive than Roosevelt’s because of the center pivot irrigation, southwest water development, and extensive cross fencing. The improved access and roads provide for better ranch management while maintaining its privacy and abundant wildlife including Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Antelope, White Tail Deer, Elk, and Pheasants. The strategically placed food plots of corn and oats combined with the irrigated crop land make it one of the most coveted habitats in the Badlands.
This ranch features the confluence of The Little Missouri River and Beaver Creek, two substantial sources of water for the Badlands. The quality and abundance of water make this one of the most desirable ranches in the Badlands.
It is highly likely Teddy Roosevelt and his friends rode horses across this ranch. I imagine they would have been impressed with its water development for irrigation, the tasteful improvements made to the ranch headquarters, and the efforts made to improve habitat and feed for the abundant wildlife.
The Myers Southern Cross Ranch is distinctive because of its unique combination of productive cropping, grazing, and environmental restoration and enhancement. This ranch is one of North Dakota’s jewels. It is now your chance to own part of the Dakota Badlands. Bully for you!!!
The Myers Southern Cross Ranch is an expansive 4,665 acres featuring irrigated crop land along The Little Missouri River, native grasses and flowers, towering bluffs, and impressive meadows. The current owners have made significant financial improvements to the road and bridges, fencing, livestock facilities and housing amenities. The Little Missouri River and the Beaver Creek alone make this one of the most attractive ranches in western North Dakota. The Myers Southern Cross Ranch is undoubtedly one of the finest ranches in the Dakota Badlands. This ranch will be offered in 19 separate parcels or as an entire unit. This catalog defines each of the parcel and their distinctive features.
