Upon entering the Rudd River Ranch it is obvious that a tremendous amount of time, care and money has been spent to bring it to the present status. The first noticeable thing is the 8 ft. high game proof fence that encloses all but about 50 acres along the river. The fence secures a well-managed, high quality Whitetail deer herd with exceptional genetics. Approximately 50 acres that runs along the length of the river are not high-fenced and offers great hunting for native deer, feral hogs and numerous other types of game. Very good fishing is also available in the 9,082 feet (1.727 miles) of frontage along the scenic Colorado River.
At the main entrance to the ranch there is a 2009 model 16x56 mobile home to be used as a managers house. This home has never been lived in and sits on about 5 acres of low-fenced acreage. Deep inside the ranch and near the river is a 1999 model Palm Harbor 28x64 double-wide home in great condition. The family generally stays here. Nearby sits the Lodge.
The Ranch Lodge is a huge 9,000 sq. ft. metal building with half of the inside (4,500 sq. ft.) finished nicely as living quarters. The living area has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a massive rock fireplace, stained concrete floors and vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is open to the great room so you dont miss a minute of the action inside. The other half of the lodge is an enclosed drive-through area where you can securely store vehicles, hunting equipment or just about anything else.
A Pergola is located near the lodge. It has a concrete slab floor and provides a great place to enjoy the outdoors. As you leave the Lodge area and travel up the river there is Pavilion with a concrete slab floor, nice rockwork, a fireplace and metal roof. It has a raised stage area for entertaining. Nearby are two bathrooms (one for men and one for women) with showers. This area of the river is called the Park because it was once a park that the public enjoyed and has a very spacious area for outdoor games and fun.
In addition to the easy access to the Colorado River, there are 4 large stock tanks and 5 very good water wells. Four wells have electric submersible pumps and one has a windmill. Water can be piped from the wells to supplement the ponds. One of the wells also supplies water to the lodge & double-wide. Public water is available at the county road.
The ranch is very hilly with continuous elevation changes that range from gentle river bottom to massive bluffs towering above the river below. The views are tremendous! The tree cover consists of a good mixture of several species of Oaks, Elm, Mesquite, Pecan, Hackberry and all kinds of brush.
