Yellowstone Country in Southeastern Montana borders the state of Wyoming, and of course, as the name suggests, this area is covered by a portion of Yellowstone National Park, the first national park in the U.S. Yellowstone Country is a tourist destination for rafting, fishing, hiking, camping as well as skiing and other winter sports.

Gallatin County is a diverse county which features the beauty of Yellowstone scenery, as well as farmland for agriculture and a growing high-tech industry. As much of this area, it features almost endless outdoor recreation activities, but some highlights are the "blue ribbon" trout streams and Gallatin National Forrest. Montana State University is located in the largest city of Bozeman, which is a home for art and culture, and also features a variety of retail shops and restaurants. Bozeman is also home of the largest airport in the state of Montana.

Park County and Carbon County, also bordering Yellowstone National Park and Wyoming to the south, feature similar landscapes and outdoor recreational activities, which are a large part of the economy, as well as agriculture. Park County is home to the highest natural point in Montana, Granite Peak, with an elevation of 12,800 feet.
