The MAIN HOUSE dates from mid-19th Century and was originally constructed on the Yorktown Battlefield by the Beer Family. It was disassembled, moved and re-built in accordance with code in Barhamsville, Virginia beginning in 1982. The two story six room home retains much of its original look and dimensions. Noteworthy are the old heart pine floors, original windows, doors, hardware, etc. Considerable modernization took place in the early 21st Century including the installation of a central heating and cooling system. The exterior is cedar and cypress clapboards, many of them from original building.
Positioned privately on 16+ attractive rolling acres, fields and woodland it is located 25 miles from Williamsburg and 35 miles outside of Richmond with convenient access to Interstate 64.

GUEST HOUSE, a timber-frame structure with exposed beam work was built as a small barn in 1980's; expanded, modernized and turned into a two story, four room guest house with heat and central air conditioning in 2009-11 time period. Modern high-quality double-paned windows are found throughout the structure with the exception of the historical front windows from the famous Miss Porter's School for Girls in Farmington, CT. An elegantly rustic STUDIO / CABIN is located several hundred yards into the woods from Main House. Built between 2003 and 2005 with mortise & tenon open-beam construction, this structure utilized hand cut cherry, poplar, pine, and oak all harvested on the property. A stained-glass window and a large handsome 19 Century French Pecan writing desk complete the list of unique aspects of this writers retreat.
Constructed with a cement floor, wood reclaimed telephone poles and sheet metal in 2008, the pole barn is the size of a large two-car garage. Currently used as work shop and storage building, it can easily be converted into garage.
