The Piedmont region is in the central part of North Carolina and is covered with gently rolling foothills. The region is home to the state's largest cities including Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, and Durham.

Between Durham and Raleigh is the Falls Lake State Recreation Area which has great hiking and biking trails as well as a quiet lake for swimming. The Uwharrie National Forest is a great getaway for hiking, biking, and camping and also has trails for horseback riding and separate trails for off-road vehicles. For a different experience you can visit Clemmons Educational State Forest which offers self-guided nature trails with audio exhibit station and easy hiking trails.

The Piedmont region of North Carolina offers many hunting opportunities with the vast land.
