The creek flows all the way thru the claim for over 660 feet from north to south and has some nice bends, acting as good gold catching areas.

Plumas County is on the far northern extent of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, and includes several very rich gold deposits. This area was being mined not long after the initial discovery of gold in California. Within a few short years, major mining operations were in place.

There are many large hard rock mines throughout Plumas County, but most of the gold production from this area has come from the placers. The Feather River is the major drainage that flows through the county, but there are also some ancient river channels, also called Tertiary gold bearing rivers and creeks that were the primary gold producers. Indian Creek is one of those gold bearing creeks.

Year round, outdoor enthusiasts are attracted to this area's many streams and lakes, beautiful deep canyons, rich mountain valleys, meadows and lofty peaks.

Our claims here are for those who like a more secluded area, where you feel you are away from it all, where within an hour you can be to Susanville that has a casino and resort hotel.

a half hour to Taylorsville, a quaint mountain town that has all the necessities, and just 10 minutes to beautiful Antelope Lake.

Antelope Lake lies in the beautiful Indian Valley area in central Plumas County. It sits at 5,000 feet and measures about 15 miles around the shoreline. Antelope Lake is a favorite spot for campers and fishermen, as well as those wanting a getaway to a beautiful mountain lake. Lone Rock Campground is also on this lake in the area called Antelope Lake Recreation Area. The campground has vault toilets, tap water, store, bait shop, concessions, and an amphitheater.

For the possibility of constructing any building you or others could live in, you need to file a Plan of Operation with the BLM for approval, showing you have developed a full-time operation performing diligent mining, though the BLM is reluctant to approve anything to live in.

You do not need a plan, permission nor a permit to camp and prospect.

You do not need to be a full time prospector to file a Plan for a shed type structure.

This is a 20 acre unpatented, gold mining placer claim, the Indian Creek #8, with the beautiful Indian Creek running through the claim, and is in Plumas County, California, in the beautiful Diamond Mountain Range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the Plumas National Forest.

The claim is legally registered with the Bureau of Land Management out of Sacramento and the Plumas County Recorder.

You own the mineral rights, not sharing with others, on the 20 acres, and use your 20 acres, recreationally for camping: tent, camper, or RV, and prospecting: an awesome, beautiful area.

With an approved BLM Plan of Operation, a building can be built on the land: any building that benefits and improves the claim, though you cannot live on a mining claim.

As stated by the BLM, this can be the "construction of a building, road, fence, or enclosure necessary for mining."

Current usage, is what the BLM calls, Casual Use: panning, shovel, rock hammer, metal detector, creek powered sluice box, where no permission nor permit is needed to camp and prospect.

Now that we have located the claim, you never have to declare to the BLM any gold or gems you find. You can prospect as little or as much as you like.

There was a fire in this area several years ago and the area is coming back nicely.

On our visits to the claim, we gathered in and around the creek, approx. 1/8 of an ounce of gold on the claim, being worth about $225. As the BLM does not specify the amount of gold to be found to locate a claim other than gold needs to be discovered, we use this amount for a 20 acre claim as a projection of good gold potential. Someone with more time may find more. Gold prices are over $1900/ounce. Though we could never guarantee what you will find, we did locate this claim in an historical area for gold prospecting.

Gold prices have gone up over $400 per ounce over the last 3 years.

We also found some nice crystal specimens up the mountain ridge, as is also a good place for gem prospecting.

You are allowed to post No Trespassing for Prospecting signs in and around the claim.

A mining claim owner may limit or restrict public recreational use of/or public access across claims or portions of claims that are actively used for prospecting, mining, or processing operations where public recreational use of a claim would endanger or materially interfere with legitimate mining pursuits.

This claim has good legal road access, on a good forest service road for any type of vehicle, with areas for camping, and gold and gems discovered in surface prospecting. Indian Creek runs thru the whole claim.

A transfer of ownership is a sale of legal, exclusive ownership of a mining claim site. To be a legally recorded claim, gold had to be found on the claim, which was completed by us, as we are original claim locators.

Your ownership is legally conveyed via a Quit Claim deed, and legally recorded with the BLM and Plumas County. A Quit Claim deed is the required legal document per the BLM.

Each year, on or before September 1st, you need to file a simple form with the Bureau of Land Management, along with $165. By doing this, you keep the claim forever.

You must be a current US citizen with a US address to own a mining claim in the US.

I have paid the $165 fee for this year, not due again until September 1, 2023.

Plumas County taxes = $60/year billed in the Summer.

From town of Quincy, right on 89 N, to right on Arlington Rd and Main St, to right onto Genesee Rd/N Valley Rd, continue onto Beckwourth Genesee Rd, continue onto Antelope Rd that turns slightly right and becomes Indian Creek Rd.

Continue on Indian Creek Rd following the GPS coordinates above to the claim.

About 40 miles from Quincy to the claim,

The claim location monument has a 4 foot wooden post with an attached copy of the Location Notice, as required by the State of California.

Indian Creek running through the claim is a unique advantage for gold prospecting and prospectors always look for creek bends as on this claim for where the gold accumulates.

Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.

Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.
