A Unique Piece of South Carolina History
Resting on 280 acres in Sumter County, Millvale Plantation offers an unparalleled combination of historic preservation, bountiful recreation and convenient seclusion. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features an opulent plantation house, Ellerbe's Mill and the 90-acre mill pond.
The Victorian Main House
At the heart of Millvale is the Victorian plantation house. Built in 1890, the home once entertained family and guests with expansive social areas downstairs and four large bedrooms upstairs. French doors, fire places and heart pine are all evidence of the home's grand history, which has been remarkably recorded in texts and images. Floor-to-ceiling double doors separate the four large parlors from the main entry hall, and open to create a spacious venue for special events.
Ellerbe's Mill
An archival ...
An archival icon of South Carolina's agricultural economy, Ellerbe's Mill still stands next to the main house. Hand hewn timbers reflect the care in it's construction in the 1830s. Nearly all of the mechanical implements needed for the mill to operate are in place.
Ellerbe's Mill Pond-90 Acres of Incredible Opportunity
Rafting Creek fills Ellerbe's Mill Pond with fresh water that's teaming with fish and fowl. Perimeter trails and managed peninsulas make duck hunting easy and accessible. The view of the mill pond from the upper deck of the house is truly unique. The entirety of the pond is situated within Millvale Plantation, so you'll have it all as a secluded retreat for your personal enjoyment.
In Season, All Year
In addition to the waterfowl and fishing in the mill pond, there's a 9-acre dove field and 75 acres of mature pine that's thinned and provides excellent habitat for deer, turkey and quail. Food plots are in place and a small impoundment is adjacent to the mill pond.
Secluded, Not Remote
Millvale Plantation is hardly a 30 minute drive from Columbia, SC and an hour from Florence, SC. Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC are both two hours or less by car.
