Other than "no further subdivision," this land is completely unrestricted and located in an area with no zoning ordinanaces. Survey and legal description included in the sales price. Shown by appointment only as this land is under a hunting lease. Hatfield Creek Rd runs from Whistle Creek Rd south then becomes a private gravel road looping back north to the top of the property (access at both the bottom and top of the property). Fantastic hunting for whitetail deer, turkey, and wild boar; the buck in the photo was harvested in fall of 2023 nearby and with age bucks score 130-150+ in Elk Valley. Great homestead or family retreat property. This site can serve as a recreational property, farm, permanent residence, or weekend retreat for your family. Please contact me to set an appointment prior to visiting the property as the land is posted and TOUR AT YOUR OWN RISK-dress for a hike with boots and jeans. By entering the property you agree to be responsible for your actions and choices and use due caution on the land. More land available from 1 acre to over 1,000 acres not yet listed for sale so please contact me if you're looking for something other than what you see on this page. OTHER LAND TO THE WEST IN SCOTT COUNTY: 5 to 150+ acres with utilities outside Oneida, TN (Buffalo Rd). Google Maps: Buffalo Creek Subdivision Oneida, TN for location.
The land has sites for homes, cabins, hunting, or camping. Convenient to Indian Mound State Park, Big South Fork National Recreation Area, Lake Norris, and ATV riding on TWRA Royal Blue, Windrock, or Brimstone. You can drive your 4-wheeler, dirt bike, SxS, or quad without a TWRA permit on many miles of old unimproved county roads through the mountains at the Campbell-Scott county line and into Southern Kentucky. Build your dream home or cabin here to enjoy woodland views, gorgeous fall foliage, and cooler evenings in the summer. This property is completely unrestricted and you can do whatever the law permits on your land: barndominium, log cabin, or a commercial metal toy or work building. Note: Hatfield Creek Rd is a county road and cannot be gated or blocked. If you have time, drop in on E's market for lunch (.2 mi north of the Hwy 297/Whistle Creek Rd intersection going north toward Jellico). Recommend you download "OnX Hunt" on your phone and select "Tennessee" prior to your visit. The app is 35 dollars per year and will allow you to navigate property, view boundaries, access topographic relief maps, view terrain "3D" perspectives, and includes a PC desktop/laptop version with the annual subscription. Once you download the app, I can email or text you a url link with the boundaries for this farm when you schedule your visit. No offers considered without proof of funds to close or evidence of preapproval of your financing (explore Farm Credit Services of Mid-America for financing if you're not already preapproved by your bank).
ON-GRID to the south: 5.5 acres fronting Hwy 297 ready-to-build with driveway and utilities in place, home site cleared, and modest slopes. GoogleMaps: Elk Valley Subdivision Pioneer, TN or see my other ads for details.
ON-GRID in Scott County 30+ minutes to the west: 24 acres (may be increased to 150 total acres with additional adjoining property) very secluded with all utilities except municipal sewer available (septic permit and system required per state guidelines). GoogleMaps: Buffalo Creek Subdivision Oneida, TN. (5) more tracts of 23-29 acres available up the mountain on the west face of Privet Mountain.
GOOGLE MAPS: input "Dave Lay Hollow Tennessee" for directions to the north property boundary. From the south at Knoxville, go north on I-75 to Exit 141 (Huntsville/Oneida/Pioneer). As you exit I-75 at Exit 141, proceed 24 miles to the property. Take a left under the interstate and past the Pilot on 63/297 bearing right on Hwy 297 at the Pioneer, TN US Post Office and continuing north on 297 through Elk Valley to the Newcomb Community. Take a left from Hwy 297 going west (if you pass E's country store on your left then you went too far north on Hwy 297 so turn around and go back) on Whistle Creek Rd for 5.5 miles as the road transitions from asphalt to gravel. Stay on Whistle Creek Rd until you bear left and merge with Lamb Mountain Rd/Hatfield Rd bearing left a second time as the road turns due south (when you turn onto Whistle Creek Rd you'll bear left twice on county roads to enter the north property boundary-note all other gravel roads are private drives off Whistle Creek Rd and are gated).
From the north at Lexington, KY, go south on I-75 and take Exit 160 (Jellico) at the TN-KY state line. Google maps directions: enter "Dave Lay Hollow Tennessee." From the off-ramp on Exit 160 it is 11 miles to the property. Proceed south through Jellico on 5th St/Main St/297 continuing south on Hwy 297/Newcomb Pike and turning right onto Whistle Creek Rd/Capuchin Rd west toward the county line, then bear left going south on Lamb Mountain Rd/Whistle Creek Rd. When you see a 2-acre hay field on your right you're at the northern boundary for this parcel.
Once you reach the north property line at the hay field, the land is on the left side of Whistle Creek Rd. No 911 address exists for this property since no home is present so look at the aerial photos provided for visual references and utilize the OnXHunt app on your phone to fix your location relative to the property boundaries.
If you have time, take a trip to the TWRA Hatfield Knob elk viewing tower. The site is only 35 miles' driving distance, but you have to go north to Jellico then east-southeast through Duff and curvy roads to reach the site so the drive time is approximately 1 hour. Google Maps: enter "Hatfield Knob Viewing Tower, LaFollette, TN 37766"
