Built in 1935, the cabin is in very good condition. The 2 story design offers 3 bedrooms and 1 bath plus a nice kitchen and living room. The 2 smaller bedrooms are downstairs with the larger master bedroom upstairs. The master has a separate entrance and sitting deck. There is a also a deck off the kitchen and off the living room. The kitchen features a beautiful old wood cookstove that also heats the cabin. Cooling is provided by Mother nature. The cabin will come partially furnished. The cabin has electrical service and a septic system. Water is provided by a new community well and storage system owned by the cabin owners. You can even hook up Dish Network if you want. There is a small storage building for your toys and tools, a steel firewood box, and even a lighted backup bathroom (we call it an outhouse).
You can take walks along the paths in the forest or take day trips to places such as Wilsonia, the giant redoods of Grant Grove, Cedar Grove in the bottom of Kings Canyon (the deepest in the world), Boyden's Cave, Crystal Cave, and a host of other places of wilderness majesty. This is the quiet national park area of California. You won't find the crowds of Yosemite here.
Any negatives? Well, it is an old cabin, so there's always lots of maintenance and you will need to learn to cook on a wood cookstove (or bring a microwave & BBQ). The snow can get a little deep at times, so carry chains in the winter. Finally, all of the peace and serenity of the forest may entice you to never go back to the city.
This is truly a nice opportunity to have your own private retreat. Very affordably priced and the owner might carry a small amount of paper.
