Alamosa Creek Ranch is historically a 400 cow ranch featuring its namesake creek traversing the ranch on a southwest direction from the North through the middle of the ranch and exiting through the southwest. This seasonal creek is a long wide draw which provides exceptional grass production. The ranch is generally native grass covered, rolling hills with elevations ranging from 4,508 to 4,220. Wet weather Sand Creek crosses the property in southerly direction in the western portion of the ranch. Pasture grasses include Gramas, Buffalo, New Mexico Feather grass, blues stem and Tobosa in some of the lower areas.
Complementing the cattle production on the ranch is an income producing gravel pit which is currently leased to a third party reportedly until July of 2025. Along with the pit are commercial water rights associated with the ranch (the seller is negotiating with the water rights holder to be able to include the water rights with the sale of the ranch). Antelope hunting also provides additional income with an average of four bucks being taken annually and quail have a good habitat on the ranch most years as well.
The ranch is well watered with 11 windmills, 2 solar wells, a well at the headquarters on utility power and four tanks on pipelines. Additionally there is an old irrigation well which has 40 acres of water rights described previously and a well furnishing the aggregate processing which the lessee had drilled. There are also a few dirt tanks and watering holes along the two creeks.
The headquarters is located one mile north of Hwy 60 on an all weather road and consists of two manufactured homes, a barn, working pens, two traps and two small pastures to the east of the headquarters. Alamosa Creek Ranch has adequate to good fencing and consists of three large pastures and two smaller pastures in addition to those around the headquarters.
This is an excellent cattle ranch that has been in the same family for 60 years and with the added bonus of aggregate mining income and excellent access it certainly deserves a look!
